Frequently Asked Questions
What is counseling like?
You can think of us as on a team working together to create solutions to your problem. We’ll work together to decide how often to meet, what to work on in session, and when to end counseling. I offer thoughts on what might be helpful, but the decisions are ultimately yours.
Do I need counseling? I should be able to handle this on my own.
This is a very common question…I have asked this when I’ve seen counselors in the past. The truth is, counseling can help anyone who wants to make a change in their life. Many people see a counselor for only a few sessions and say that they feel better and are on track to a solution to their problem. Others benefit from longer-term counseling. If you’re not sure, ask yourself, “Do I have a problem that I’ve tried to solve that I could use help with?”
Do you take insurance?
Though I do not work directly with insurance companies, there are options for possible reimbursement from your insurance company. I'm happy to talk with you about that during our initial consult (Inquire about using out-of-network benefits, flex spending accounts, or health savings accounts).
